CPL 12 Preseason is just around the corner and with it comes opportunities for players to begin shaking the dust off and preparing in earnest. Players have begun their own individual training montages, grinding practice matches, doing finger yoga, and calling their ISPs to increase their internet bandwidth. However, the primary piece of preparation arrives in the form of this season’s Ladder Stage!
That’s right! It’s real! The Ladder Stage has started! The announcement came as a relief to a community itching for CPL action to start and especially to y2kidBno who admitted “I was hearing it in my dreams, I couldn’t escape it! CPLWEN? CPLWEN!? I finally caved in to the demands of those degens, even if it means interacting with them and being a cplbw.com monkey again.”
The Ladder Stage is optional, but it marks a stark increase in hype within the community.
CPL tagged usernames are being generated and released on the ladder, confused players are having issues understanding why their scores aren’t being recorded on the webapp, and participants are digitally pushing and shoving each other to capture some of the amazing perks for accomplishing some of the challenges set forth for the stage.
The primary community challenge is to exceed a combined 1200 ladder games within a roughly 30 day period. The challenge is a well calibrated task that was accomplished within roughly 72 hours, give or take after being released. We have requested CPL staff to comment, but they are still silent about this happening.
The username CPL-leon is leading the pack at the time of writing with an astounding 193 ladder games of the time of writing this article. “Some people find their callings late in life, I’m fortunate to have mine right here! When I heard the announcement I quit my job, hitchhiked to Korea, and hired someone to massage my legs while I play to prevent blood clots from forming during the hours of playing. No, I haven’t slept during this challenge! Rest is for losers!” stated CPL-leon as he shot-gunned his third BAWLS energy drink of the morning.
There are also rewards for each player who plays at least 25 games. The reward is an undisclosed amount of CPL Bucks, an imaginary currency used exclusively for online betting and clout within the CPL community. “It’s truly amazing to be a part of a community that is so generous to participants. I’ve been deep in the Emu racing scene since before I stumbled on CPL and there you must bet REAL money! This system is much more sustainable to earn currency and place bets, allowing me to not have to dip into my Emu betting budget” said Byeah🍺Gall0nS, CPL Gamba underbelly de-facto gray cardinal.
The undisclosed amount of CPL bucks is an even higher undisclosed amount for the players with the most and second-most games played during the Ladder Stage! These lucrative offerings have motivated the community to truly go above and beyond!
